Earlier this year, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei left the company to focus on his new project. This project was a startup called Nothing. Karl Pay’s new company recently introduced its first product, the completely wireless Nothing Ear (1). But they are not going to stop there. Now at Nothing, work is in full swing on the brand’s first smartphone.
According to sources, Nothing is preparing to release its first smartphone. However, you should not count on its early announcement. At best, the novelty will be presented early next year, if the semiconductor crisis and the shortage of chips do not interfere with the startup’s plans. What technical characteristics the device will have is still unknown. But given that Nothing recently announced a strategic partnership with the American chipmaker Qualcomm, therefore, most likely, one of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets will form the basis of the first smartphone of the new brand.
Along with its first smartphone, Nothing is to introduce an external battery. It will appear on the market under the name Nothing Power (1).
It is difficult to say whether Karl Pay’s new company will be as popular in the world market as OnePlus once became. We’ll have to wait to see what Nothing has to offer.
