Mysterious Vivo smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 spotted on Geekbench

American chipmaker Qualcomm is preparing to release its new flagship single-chip platform, which will form the basis of most of the top smartphones of the 2022 model year. The launch of the new platform, which we know as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898, is expected in early December at the traditional Qualcomm Tech Summit in Hawaii. Despite the fact that there is at least three months before the announcement, the successor to Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 has become the object of information leaks more than once. So, this time it lit up in the popular synthetic test Geekbench as part of the mysterious Vivo smartphone.

A previously unknown Vivo smartphone with model number V2102A was spotted in the Geekbench database. The prototype is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which consists of a new 2.42 GHz Cortex-X2 Super Core, three Cortex-A710 Power cores up to 2.17 GHz and four energy efficient Cortex-A510 cores up to 1.79 GHz. Judging by the composition of the processor, we have before us the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 898, which will replace the Snapdragon 888. However, from past leaks, we know that the maximum clock speed of the new chipset will be 3.09 GHz. Powered by a prototype tested in Geekbench, the latest mobile operating system Android 12, which is currently in beta testing. What kind of model it will be and when and under what name it will appear on the market is still unknown. But there is no doubt that this will be Vivo’s next flagship and will not be on sale until the end of 2021.

By the way, Vivo is not the only Chinese manufacturer currently testing Qualcomm’s new flagship platform. According to rumors, the first company to launch a smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 will be Xiaomi. The new chip will form the basis of the flagship series Xiaomi 12, which is slated to launch in December this year.
