MediaTek Boasts Record Revenue Despite Semiconductor Crisis

Taiwanese chip maker MediaTek released its September 2021 report, boasting record financial performance. Despite the semiconductor industry crisis and global chip shortages, MediaTek was able to generate revenue of 47.906 billion New Taiwan dollars last month, or about US $ 1.71 billion at current exchange rates.

MediaTek’s revenue in September 2021 increased by 26.5% compared to the same month in 2020, and growth compared to August 2021 was 11.91%. This was a new high for the Taiwanese company.

Considering the entire third quarter of 2021 as a whole, the consolidated sales revenue for this period was 131.174 billion New Taiwan dollars or 4.68 billion US dollars. This is 4.3% more compared to the second quarter of 2021 and 34.7% more year on year. From January to September, total sales revenue reached NT $ 364.76 billion, or about US $ 13 billion. Compared to the same period last year, this figure increased by 61.5%. The manufacturer notes that the results for the first three quarters of 2021 exceeded its expectations for the entire 2021.
