Information periodically appears on the Web that Apple is preparing to release a new iPhone SE model with an updated chipset and support for working in fifth-generation cellular networks. Today this information was confirmed by the Japanese blog Macotakara, along the way, revealing some of the features of the novelty.
According to sources of the publication, Apple is indeed working on the third generation of the iPhone SE. The new smartphone will be based on a more powerful chipset than its predecessor and boast 5G support. True, outwardly it will look similar to the 2020 iPhone SE, which in turn inherited the design from the old iPhone 8. This means that you should not rely on either a full-screen design or the appearance of a Face ID facial recognition system. The new iPhone SE will feature a 4.7-inch wide-bezel LCD display and a traditional Home button with a built-in fingerprint reader. The body of the new «affordable» Apple smartphone will consist of a metal frame and glass panels on both sides.
The main difference between the third generation iPhone SE and its predecessor will be the new chipset. It will be based on the same Apple A15 Bionic processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G modem as the flagship iPhone 13 series smartphones unveiled in mid-September. The rest of the technical characteristics of the new smartphone are still a mystery.
Insiders cited by Macotakara also reported that the third-generation iPhone SE will tentatively begin production in December 2021. And its official announcement is scheduled for the spring of 2022. How much the successor to the iPhone SE 2021 model year will cost is not specified. But it is quite possible that Apple will keep the price unchanged.
