Google to release foldable Pixel Fold before the end of the year

Internet giant Google does not hide that this fall plans to release a new generation of flagship smartphones Pixel 6. But, as it turned out, Google has something else to surprise us with. If insiders are right, then later this year we will see not only the successors of the Pixel 5 and Pixel 5 Pro, but also the brand’s first foldable smartphone. Moreover, the media have said more than once that Google plans to enter a new market for foldable devices this year.

The senior director of research firm Display Supply Chain Consultants has confirmed that Google is preparing its first foldable smartphone to launch and has even unveiled a launch date. According to him, the debut of the novelty will take place in the fourth quarter of 2021, that is, from October to December. Also, a top manager of the analytical company said that the long-awaited foldable smartphone, conventionally referred to as the Google Pixel Fold, will be equipped with an OLED display of the LTPO type, made using technology using polycrystalline low-temperature silicon.

The technical specifications of Google’s first foldable smartphone are still unknown. Rumor has it only that it will receive a 7.6-inch flexible display manufactured by Samsung, folding inward. The exact date of the official announcement remains a mystery, but given that October falls within the aforementioned fourth quarter, it is highly likely that the Pixel Fold will premiere at a special Google event alongside the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro on October 19.
