Smartphone manufacturers, especially Chinese brands, continue to increase the charging capacity of their mobile devices. If a couple of years ago most smartphones only supported 10-watt charging, now you won’t even surprise anyone with 65-watt charging. But this, as it turned out, is not the limit. Smartphones with support for fast charging up to 120W have appeared on the market this year. The pioneer in this regard was the Chinese company Xiaomi. And soon we will see smartphones with even more powerful charging. A reputable informant from China, Digital Chat Station, told about this in his Weibo account.
According to an insider, now a certain manufacturer is preparing to release the world’s first smartphone with 150W fast charging. He did not disclose the manufacturer’s name, as he did not name the smartphone model, limiting himself only to the message that the announcement of a unique device is just around the corner. Therefore, we can only guess what kind of smartphone it will be and which brand is the first to implement 150-watt charging. But, undoubtedly, it will be one of the world famous Chinese manufacturers. Could it be Xiaomi? Moreover, more recently, this Chinese tech giant teased its fans with the upcoming 200-watt charge.
How effective 150W smartphone charging will be remains to be seen. But, undoubtedly, it will allow you to charge mobile devices even faster than 120W charging. But the 120-watt charging of the same Xiaomi Mix 4 charges its 4500 mAh battery in 21 minutes in normal mode and in 15 minutes in turbo mode. However, fast charging has one significant drawback. It speeds up not only the charging process, but also the degradation of the battery. For example, with continuous use of 120-watt charging, after 800 recharge cycles, smartphone batteries lose up to 20% of their nominal capacity.
