On Wednesday, September 15th, the Chinese company Xiaomi held a global presentation of its new products. Among the new products that debuted that day was a smartphone called Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE. Yes, yes, without the Mi prefix, because as we remember, Xiaomi recently abandoned the use of the Mi brand in the names of its new devices.
Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE replaced the previously released Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G and, in fact, differs from its predecessor only in the processor model. If the original smartphone was based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G chipset, then its successor is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor. The first is made according to Samsung’s 5-nanometer technological process, and the second is manufactured by the Taiwanese TSMC chipmaker according to 6-nanometer standards. Rumor has it that the global shortage of chips pushed the company to release the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE with the new chip.
Apart from processors, both smartphones are almost identical. The novelty, like its predecessor, is equipped with a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with Full HD + resolution and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. In the upper left corner, you can see a tiny hole for a 20MP front camera for selfies and video calling. On the back, the smartphone has a 64-megapixel main camera, combined with an 8-megapixel module with an ultra-wide-angle lens and a 5-megapixel sensor with a macro lens.
The company has a processor of 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal memory expandable using a microSD memory card. The smartphone is powered by a 4250 mAh rechargeable battery with a 33 W fast charge function via a USB Type-C port. The device is running the mobile operating system Android 11, on top of which the proprietary MIUI 12 firmware is installed. Other features of the novelty are a fingerprint scanner built into the power button on the side, an NFC chip and protection against dust and splashes according to the IP53 standard. The thickness of the case of the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE is 6.81 mm and the weight is 159 g.
Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE is already available to order in the European market. Its retail price starts at 369 euros for the version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage and goes up to 399 euros for the model with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. The device is offered in several colors, including black, blue, pink and white.
