Announcement of Vivo Y21s: Helio G80 and a 50 megapixel camera cheaper than $ 200

The Chinese company Vivo releases new smartphones with enviable regularity. At the end of August, it introduced the Vivo Y21, and now, less than a month later, it has released its heir called the Vivo Y21s. The novelty is a mid-range smartphone with a MediaTek Helio chipset inside and a 50-megapixel main camera.

Let’s start with the look of the new Vivo smartphone. It is clothed in a case 164.26 mm high, 76.08 mm wide and 8 mm thick. Together with all the filling, the smartphone weighs 182 grams. At the front, it has a 6.51-inch LCD panel with an aspect ratio of 20 by 9, a resolution of 1600 by 720 pixels (HD +) and a standard refresh rate of 60 Hz. The display occupies 89% of the total bezel area and has a small teardrop notch at the top for an 8MP front-facing camera that supports face recognition for quick unlocking. Of the biometric authentication methods, in addition to face unlocking, the new smartphone has a fingerprint scanner — it is built into the power button on the side. On the rear panel, you can see a rectangular module that houses three cameras: a 50-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel one with a macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for portrait photography.

As for the internal equipment of Vivo Y21s, the smartphone is powered by the eight-core MediaTek Helio G80 chipset, supplemented by 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. The smartphone supports the function of expanding RAM by 1 GB due to the built-in storage and has a separate slot for a microSD memory card. The autonomy of the novelty is answered by a rechargeable battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh, which supports fast wired charging with a power of 18 W via the USB Type-C port and reverse charging to recharge other devices. From wireless communications, Vivo Y21s supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0. There is also a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones. The smartphone is running the Android 11 mobile operating system with the FunTouch OS 11.1 proprietary shell installed on top.

The first country to start selling the new Vivo Y21s will be Indonesia. There, it has a suggested retail price of about $ 197. The device is available in two colors: pearl white and blue. The new product is expected to appear in other markets in the coming days.
